Karachi, Sindh: Sui Southern Gas Company Limited said gas supply would remain suspended or disrupted in several Karachi areas from 10 pm Saturday to 5 am Sunday due to pipeline work near Nipa Flyover.
SSGC said the shutdown was needed to relocate and reduce the pressure on a 20-inch heavy-pressure gas pipeline near the Bus Rapid Transit route at Nipa. Additionally, the company said it was carrying out the work at the request of Trans Karachi.
The company said the work could continue until 8 am Sunday due to the technical nature of the operation. The same schedule, citing SSGC’s social media notice.
SSGC listed all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, PECHS and Saddar among the affected areas. It also said that gas supply around Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital and Karachi Central Prison could be disrupted.
The company said consumers would receive updates after the work was completed. Furthermore, it said that supply would be restored after the operation.

The disruption comes as Karachi residents continue to face scheduled SSGC load management. The uploaded notice said regular outages continue from 10 am to 12 pm, 3 pm to 6 pm and 10 pm to 6 am the next morning.
