The Karachi Traffic Police have rolled out a new traffic plan for Karachi Eid shopping to handle the expected rush at major markets and shopping centres. The plan includes extra deployments, restrictions on rickshaws, taxis and commercial vehicles, and a list of alternate routes across the city.

Traffic DIG Syed Pir Muhammad Shah said the department has stationed section officers and traffic personnel at busy markets across multiple districts starting today. They will work daily from 7pm until late at night to manage congestion, and the department has deployed additional staff on major roads to keep traffic moving.

Karachi Eid Shopping Traffic Plan: Key Restrictions and Routes

Under the plan, rickshaws will not be allowed on several high-traffic stretches, including:

  • Allah Wali Chowrangi to Ittehad Signal
  • Fawara Chowk to GPO
  • Singer Chowk to Zeb-un-Nisa Street
  • Tibet Chowk to Eidgah Chowk up to Jama Cloth Market
  • Main Rashid Minhas Road

Commercial vehicles arriving from Drigh Road will take the Millennium Bridge route to Nipa, while authorities have barred rickshaws and taxis from passing beneath the bridge.

To ease congestion near supermarkets, traffic police said they will not allow illegal rickshaw and taxi stands anywhere in the city.

Diversions for Hyderi and North Karachi

If congestion builds near Hyderi Market, authorities will divert commercial traffic from North Karachi from Five Star Chowrangi toward Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan and Landi Kotal Chowrangi.

Traffic officials advise drivers travelling from the Board Office to use KDA Chowrangi, Ziauddin Chowrangi, and Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan to reach North Karachi.

Alternate routes for Saddar and Clifton

Motorists coming from the MA Jinnah Road should use routes via Singer Chowk, Preedy Street, and Saddar Dawakhana.

Traffic from the KPT Underpass is advised to head towards Clifton Bridge via Bath Island. In Clifton, suggested alternate routes include Teen Talwar, Racecourse, and Chaudhry Khaliq-uz-Zaman Road.

Traffic officials have directed vehicles from Sohrab Goth’s Sajan Kanta area to use Sarfaraz Ghouri Road, and they have advised commercial drivers to use alternate routes, including:

  • Allah Wali to Noorani Signal, Medi Care and Shahrah-e-Millat Road
  • Fawara Chowk to MR Kiyani Chowk and Sarwar Shaheed Road via Coast Guard to reach Regal or Tibet Centre

DIG Shah urged the public to cooperate and follow the plan to keep traffic flowing and maintain order during Eid shopping days.
