During Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Pakistan, Karachi implemented stringent security protocols, including a week-long ban on drone cameras, effective from April 22 to April 28. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced this measure.
The ban empowers local Station House Officers (SHO) to enforce the prohibition and address infringements.
Concurrently, Karachi’s traffic police have notified the public about road closures scheduled for April 23. Affected areas include Club Road, from PIDC to Metropole, and Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, from Ziauddin Road Bridge to PIDC Chowk, with additional closures from Khajoor Chowk to PIDC.

Alternative routes have been suggested to manage traffic flow. Motorists from Sultanabad are advised to use Dr. Ziauddin Road to reach Aiwan-e-Sadr Road via Khajoor Chowk, while those from Sharea Faisal to Sultanabad should detour at Club Chowk. Clifton Bridge and Boat Basin access is available via a left turn at Club Chowk. Additionally, Khaliq-ul-Zaman Road and Ghazri traffic is directed to turn right at the Ziauddin traffic signal. Vehicles from Shaheen Complex are advised to turn right at Khajoor Chowk.
Commissioner Naqvi has declared April 23 a public holiday in Karachi to facilitate President Raisi’s visit and reduce public inconvenience. Consequently, all private and public offices and educational institutions in the Karachi Division will be closed.
