Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and the attending journalists engaged in a lively exchange during the “Overcoming Implementation Challenges to Court Verdicts” conference at the Argela Hotel in Islamabad.
As reporters gathered to pose questions to Justice Shah, senior court reporter Abdul Qayyum Siddiqui interjected with a pointed query about the propriety of a judge commenting on an ongoing case. With a smile, Justice Shah quickly reassured the crowd, “Don’t worry, we are not discussing that!” which prompted laughter throughout the hall.
As the event concluded, attendees and journalists approached Justice Shah, who amiably engaged with them. When probing about a particular decision’s details, he stated, “We are writing it.” The interaction took an unexpected turn when another journalist began recording on their mobile, asking, “Sir, how are you discussing an ongoing case with the media?”
The situation intensified as a senior journalist vocally challenged the reporters, questioning their approach and asking if they were acting as public relations officers for Justice Shah.
In response, Justice Shah remarked, “It’s a day for minorities; respect for minorities is important. Please relax,” emphasizing the day’s significance and calling for a respectful dialogue.
