On June 23, 2025, JUI-F submitted a Senate resolution urging Pakistan to withdraw its U.S. President Donald Trump nomination for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
Senator Kamran Murtaza from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) introduced a resolution in Pakistan’s Senate, urging the government to withdraw its nomination of U.S. President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, due to U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The resolution, submitted on June 23, condemns the attacks ordered by Trump on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. It describes these actions as violations of international law, human rights, and Iran’s sovereignty, leading to casualties among the Iranian people. Additionally, it criticises the nomination announced on June 21 for Trump’s role in the India-Pakistan ceasefire as being made without consulting parliament and contrary to the public’s will.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office condemned the U.S. attacks that followed Israel’s strikes beginning on June 13. They described these actions as escalatory and illegal, reaffirming Iran’s right to self-defence under the UN Charter. The statement cautioned that these developments could have “severely damaging implications” for regional stability and urged the protection of civilian lives and the importance of diplomacy. At a council meeting in Murree, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticised the nomination of Donald Trump as “embarrassing,” pointing out his support for Israel’s campaign in Gaza.
The resolution reflects growing dissent, with PTI and analysts like Maleeha Lodhi criticising the nomination as undermining Pakistan’s dignity.
