ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Monday his party would support a JUI-F no-confidence motion strategy if a formal move against the federal government were tabled.
Fazlur Rehman stressed, however, that the opposition was not currently in a position to bring such a motion and that no no-confidence move was under consideration.
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led administration depended on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) support and argued that it would lose its parliamentary position if the PPP withdrew that backing. The remark was a political assessment by the JUI-F leader, not an announcement of any change in PPP policy.
The PPP and PML-N coordination committees had reaffirmed their commitment to coalition stability on September 12, describing their partnership as continuing rather than temporary.

Fazlur Rehman also called for an in-camera session of Parliament to brief lawmakers on the country’s security and political situation. He argued that meetings limited to parliamentary leaders were insufficient and that Parliament should address major national issues.
JUI-F has recently increased coordination with other opposition parties. On September 12, the party agreed to participate in a multi-party opposition conference being organised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), with both sides discussing cooperation on parliamentary issues.
No no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had been formally announced or tabled at the time of publication.
