Jorginho clarifies the Chappell Roan incident after issuing a public statement saying the hotel security dispute in Brazil was ultimately a misunderstanding and that the singer had no knowledge of what happened.
The footballer said new information showed Chappell Roan neither instructed anyone to approach his family nor knew about the encounter at the hotel during Lollapalooza Brazil. He also said the security guard involved was not working for Roan but was representing another artist.
Jorginho initially believed that a security guard linked to Roan had approached and intimidated his 11-year-old stepdaughter while the singer was having breakfast at the same hotel. However, after learning more about the incident, he publicly corrected that account.
He said he had misunderstood the episode and expressed regret for its impact on Chappell Roan, his wife Catherine, and their family. He also praised Roan for privately contacting his wife, describing her as understanding and sympathetic. Jorginho added that, as far as he was concerned, the matter was now closed.
The controversy first spread widely in March, when Jorginho publicly accused Chappell Roan’s team of aggressive behaviour toward his stepdaughter at a São Paulo hotel during the Lollapalooza Brazil period. That earlier version triggered a heavy wave of online criticism aimed at Roan. However, subsequent reporting identified the guard as Pascal Duvier and stated that he had no affiliation with Roan, acting independently. As a result, the updated statement has largely cleared Roan of any connection to the dispute and changed public understanding of the incident.
Jorginho took responsibility for reacting based on incomplete information. His revised statement reframed the incident as a misunderstanding rather than misconduct by Roan or her team. That matters because it not only closes the immediate dispute but also addresses the backlash that followed the original accusation. Recent coverage similarly says Jorginho acknowledged he acted in defence of his family, while making clear that Chappell Roan was not responsible for what happened.
