Hollywood star Johnny Depp may not reprise his role in the widely popular ‘Pirates of the Caribbean series.
Disney’s President, Sean Bailey, recently shared insights about the potential character arc of Captain Jack Sparrow, Depp’s iconic character, and discussed the prospects for the series’ sixth installment.
Bailey, expressing his enthusiasm, talked about their innovative ideas for the forthcoming movie. He hinted at plans to pay homage to the original films while introducing new elements, opening new horizons for the beloved pirate saga.
Johnny Depp’s continued participation in the franchise halted amidst a storm of legal disputes involving the British tabloid, The Sun, and his former wife, actress Amber Heard. These incidents cloud Depp’s association with the franchise, eventually leading to his withdrawal from the series.
Even though Disney’s plans for a female-centric ‘Pirates’ spin-off, with actress Margot Robbie in the lead, have been temporarily stalled, the media giant hasn’t shelved the idea of the sixth installment. Instead, the company appears committed to forging ahead with the next movie in the original series, despite the uncertainty surrounding Depp’s potential return to his prominent role.
