Jimmy Butler’s haircut photographs prompted an AI joke from Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry after the forward removed his braids and unveiled a shorter style.
Butler documented the haircut in an Instagram post on Monday, July 27. He captioned the photographs “Bye bye braids” and added NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” as the accompanying song.
“This gotta be a Gemini curated situation,” Curry wrote in the comments, apparently referring to Google’s generative-AI platform, according to Heavy.
The new style resembles Butler’s appearance earlier in his NBA career. The six-time All-Star has frequently attracted attention with temporary hairstyles, particularly during league media days.

Butler wore long extensions at the Miami Heat’s 2022 media day. He followed it up with his black-haired “emo” appearance in 2023, which surprised his teammates and was featured in his official season photographs, NBA.com reported.
The latest Instagram post contained no announcement about Butler’s basketball future or recovery from the torn right anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in January.
