KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Standing Committee on Home Chairperson Faryal Talpur has sought a police report on the raid at the home of National Assembly member Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.
She asked the Sindh police chief to establish the facts and protect citizens’ rights. Talpur said authorities must respect the sanctity of homes and prevent injustice.
Police have registered a narcotics case against Azad Jakhrani, the brother of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker. Their first information report (FIR) links the case to alleged recoveries from a motorcyclist and a bungalow.
The lawmaker accused officers of violating his family’s privacy during an overnight raid. He called for an investigation and action against anyone found responsible.
Although he had distanced himself from his brother, he maintained the property remained their family home. Officers had told him the operation followed information from a suspect in custody.
He said he had informed Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and the provincial police chief about the operation.
