The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has announced that Italy has allocated 10,500 jobs to Pakistani workers under a structured three-year employment quota.

A ministry spokesperson said Italy has become the first European country to formally offer employment opportunities to Pakistan under an official quota-based labour mobility framework. The allocation spans sectors including shipbreaking, healthcare, and agriculture.

According to the ministry, both skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers will be eligible for jobs in welding, technical services, cooking, waiting staff roles, and housekeeping. Additional opportunities are available in nursing, medical technology, and farming.

Under the agreement, 3,500 Pakistani workers will be able to travel to Italy each year. Of the annual quota, 1,500 positions are seasonal, and 2,000 workers will be hired for non-seasonal roles.

The spokesperson added that the second meeting of the Pakistan–Italy Joint Working Group will take place in Islamabad in February 2026, further to expand cooperation on labour mobility and employment facilitation.

Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain described the development as a major milestone, saying it opens new employment pathways for Pakistan’s workforce in Europe. He expressed optimism that other European countries may introduce similar arrangements.

“This is a significant step toward diversifying overseas employment options for Pakistanis,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to securing dignified and lawful jobs abroad.

Hussain also highlighted the role of overseas Pakistanis in supporting the national economy, noting that they act as ambassadors for the country and contribute substantially through remittances and skills transfer.
