RAMALLAH: Israel released Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed on bail Monday after nearly two weeks in custody, following a decision by the Salem Military Court.
Hamed, 38, works as Press TV’s West Bank correspondent. Press TV said Israeli forces detained her at a checkpoint near Tuqu’ in the Bethlehem area on September 14.
Her lawyer, Khaled Mahajneh, told AFP that the military court set bail at 8,000 shekels. She must also comply with future summons for questioning or court proceedings.
AFP reported that Israeli authorities accused Hamed of offences that included working for Iran. Her lawyer has challenged allegations linked to her journalistic work.

Press TV said Hamed had been held at Damon Prison and questioned about her reporting. The broadcaster also said she was separated from her camera crew after her detention.

Hamed has Palestinian and US citizenship and has worked as a journalist for more than 15 years.
Press TV previously said she had faced injuries while covering Israeli military operations in December 2025 and August 2026. Those incidents were separate from her latest detention.
