The Islamabad International Airport cashless system has officially been launched, making it Pakistan’s first fully cashless airport.
Under the new system, all payments at the airport, including airline ticketing, car parking, food outlets, retail shops and duty-free stores, must now be made digitally.
Passengers can use digital wallets, QR codes, mobile banking applications, and debit and credit cards. Airport authorities say the move is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency and overall passenger convenience.
The rollout of the cashless system at Islamabad International Airport marks a key step in the airport’s digital transformation.
Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager Aftab Gilani said a modern mobile application has also been introduced. The app allows passengers to track lost luggage from anywhere in the world.

According to officials, these upgrades aim to improve operational efficiency and elevate the airport’s international standing. Senior Joint Director Commercial Malik Amjad described the initiative as a milestone in modernising airport services.
The development follows the federal government’s decision to include Islamabad International Airport in its active privatisation programme. The Ministry of Privatisation stated that the move aligns with the ongoing privatisation process involving Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport and Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Authorities believe that digital payment systems and technology-driven services will strengthen service standards and align the airport with global best practices.
