Islamabad: Islamabad DIG jailed for one month on Tuesday after an Anti-Terrorism Court found Muhammad Jawad Tariq failed to submit a challan in a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf protest case.
Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the Islamabad police official. The court had issued repeated notices before announcing the sentence.
The case was registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders at Margalla Police Station in Islamabad. The court expressed displeasure over the delay in submitting the challan before passing the order.

Muhammad Jawad Tariq took charge as Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad on January 30. He replaced Ali Raza, who was posted as DIG Security and Headquarters.
Earlier, Tariq was appointed Deputy Inspector General of Operations in Islamabad after a law enforcement reshuffle in January 2025.
