An Islamabad-based Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has approved the post-arrest bail for human rights attorney Iman Mazari in connection with a case associated with “intervening in governmental matters.
Presided by ATC Judge Abu Al-Hasanat Zul-Qarnain, the court hearing concluded with the decision to grant bail to Iman Mazari. She was embroiled in a sedition case due to her contentious remarks against state entities. The bail was set against surety bonds amounting to Rs30,000.
The focal point of the case was a speech delivered by Iman Mazari at a public gathering. The court analyzed the speech during the session. On the other hand, the prosecution objected, emphasizing that they had yet to receive the USB device holding the speech’s record. They further stressed the need for a thorough forensic analysis of the speech.
The case has become a focal point for many, and it’s anticipated that there will be more unfolding events as inquiries progress.
Previously, another ATC in Islamabad had declined a request to extend Iman Mazari’s physical remand. Instead, they directed her to be transferred to Adiala Jail on a judicial remand.
Imaan Mazari, daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, was presented before the court regarding allegations of meddling in state activities. The prosecutor informed the court about the ongoing voice matching and photogrammetry tests involving the defendant. He mentioned that they were awaiting the transcripts of her documented speeches.
