Runway operations at Islamabad airport will shift to the alternate runway for 5 hours daily from July 7 to July 17 due to scheduled maintenance, airport authorities said.
The main runway at Islamabad International Airport will remain closed from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.
Authorities said crews will remove rubber deposits left by aircraft tyres to maintain runway safety. The main runway will remain unavailable to all aircraft during the maintenance window.
Airport authorities said flight operations will continue through the alternate runway during the closure period. They said the temporary closure is part of routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient runway operations.
In a separate update, authorities said the central runway at Jinnah International Airport Karachi has been fully upgraded. The upgraded Runway 25R can now accommodate wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A380.
The Runway 07L/25R upgrade was completed within the 18-month deadline, according to the update.
The Pakistan Airports Authority collects airport charges from departing passengers at PKR 600 for domestic travel and PKR 4,600 for international departures.
Authorities said these charges support airport infrastructure, passenger services and operational efficiency.
