TEHRAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) presented a 26-page letter addressed to Americans on Tuesday, urging them to question US wars, military spending and support for Israel.
Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, the IRGC spokesman, introduced the letter at a briefing for foreign journalists. He asked them to help bring it to American readers.
“Why do people in different countries trample on your flag or set it on fire? Why does your president not dare travel to many countries, and why does he face protests even when he travels abroad under extensive security measures?”
The briefing account did not say whether the full text was publicly available. Mohebbi argued that US military interventions had increased hostility towards Americans abroad without improving their security.
He also claimed that overseas bases and defence spending chiefly benefited arms manufacturers and wealthy interests. Turning to Gaza, he accused Washington of enabling Israel’s military campaign through weapons and political support.
Mohebbi said money spent on wars could instead fund reconstruction and reduce poverty. He maintained that the IRGC slogan “Death to America” referred to US government policies, rather than American citizens.

He also rejected US assertions about Iran’s nuclear intentions and said readers who disagreed with the letter could send questions to the IRGC.

Mohebbi said the initiative was intended to inform Americans, not influence US elections. The material provided contains no US response to the letter or his accusations.
