TEHRAN, Iran: The Barron Trump plot allegation is “a lie,” Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said in an interview with Lebanon’s Al Manar TV.
Rezaei was responding to an Iranian state television broadcast that discussed a possible attack on President Donald Trump’s 20-year-old son.
The program also claimed that Barron Trump was being monitored and alleged that a USD 10 million bounty had been placed on him. However, those claims could not be independently verified. Reuters reported Tuesday that US Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said the agency was aware of the video.
Herring said the Secret Service investigates anything that could be perceived as a threat against people under its protection.

Iranian state-linked media have previously aired material containing threats against members of the Trump family.

Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed retaliation over the January 2020 US strike that killed Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad. The latest denial from Rezaei did not address who produced or authorised the state television broadcast.
