BAGHDAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Saturday that Tehran sent Washington a seven-day Hormuz reopening plan through Qatar.
He linked the offer to Iran’s terms under Iran’s Hormuz plan; normal ship traffic could resume within a week if the necessary conditions hold.
However, Araghchi did not specify those conditions in his remarks. “The choice is now America’s,” he said. Araghchi also blamed US military action for blocking a June memorandum of understanding.
He accused Washington of ignoring the agreement’s dispute-settlement process. He argued that bombing, threats and a blockade prevent a return to safe shipping.

Although Iran would resist pressure, he maintained that Tehran remained open to talks based on mutual respect and firm guarantees. Separately, Araghchi addressed the war between Yemen’s Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
He backed both countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also offered Iran’s help to bring the sides to the table under an existing peace roadmap.
Araghchi says Iran conveyed a conditional seven-day proposal to reopen Hormuz to Washington through Qatar.
