TEHRAN, Iran: A US strike on an Iranian army barracks in Bampur killed seven military personnel on Wednesday, Iran’s army said.
The army’s ground forces said the United States fired 13 missiles before dawn at the barracks near Iranshahr in southeastern Iran.
The missiles hit accommodation buildings and guard posts, according to the army statement. Iran International also reported the strike on the Bampur site. The army said the dead included career soldiers and conscripts.
Several others suffered wounds in the attack. “The retaliation for the blood of the martyrs of this crime is certain and imminent,” the army said. It added that Iran would deliver a “decisive response” to the attack.
US Central Command said it completed a seven-hour wave of strikes against Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and coastal areas.

CENTCOM said US forces hit missile and drone sites, naval assets and coastal defence systems. It said the operation aimed to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews.
Iran’s health ministry said more than 260 people were wounded in the latest US strikes, according to Sky News. An Iranian government spokesperson said more than 30 people had died in US attacks over recent days.
Iranian forces said they targeted US-linked military facilities in Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait after the latest American strikes. The escalation came as US Central Command reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
