British officials have initiated a murder investigation following the tragic discovery of 10-year-old Sara Sharif’s body in her Woking family residence on August 10. Surrey Police reports indicate that no others were at the house during the early hours of discovery. However, three individuals acquainted with the victim have become the focal point of the investigation.
Sources claim that the trio sought one-way flight tickets out of Britain before Sara’s discovery, revealing a potential international angle. Further, a local travel agent reported being approached for tickets to Pakistan for a group related to the girl two days before the grim finding. Notably, the UK and Pakistan lack a formal extradition agreement.
Both the National Crime Agency (NCA) and Surrey Police are collaborating on the case, with the NCA offering extensive operational support. Although the BBC has engaged with Pakistani authorities, there’s no official request from the UK regarding this matter.
The bereaved mother, Olga Sharif, noted a shift in Sara’s demeanour as her ex-husband, Urfan Sharif’s influence grew. Following their 2017 divorce, Urfan received full custody of Sara and her older brother in 2019. Olga, who has seen her children only twice since and is waiting for post-mortem results, is distraught and wishes to lay Sara to rest in Poland.
