Inter Miami kicked off the eagerly awaited 2024 MLS regular season with a victory over Real Salt Lake on Wednesday evening.
The team triumphed thanks to goals from Robert Taylor and Diego Gomez amidst the much-anticipated debut of Luis Suarez and yet another stellar performance from Lionel Messi.
Throughout the match, Messi delivered an exceptional performance against Real Salt Lake. Inter Miami dominated the first half, maintaining control for 45 minutes against a defensively inclined and possession-challenged Real Salt Lake.

Miami capitalized on their possession, leading to the match’s opening goal. Taylor scored, benefiting from a Messi assist, although RSL’s goalkeeper, Zac MacMath, might have responded more effectively.
Messi remained a dynamic force throughout the game, nearly scoring what could have been hailed as one of the season’s most spectacular goals.
The second half saw a shift, with Miami facing fatigue and Salt Lake adopting a more aggressive stance in pursuit of an equalizer. However, Diego Gomez sealed the win for Miami late in the game following a play involving Messi and Suarez.
Inter Miami looks ahead to their next challenge, a match against LA Galaxy on Sunday, as they continue their campaign in the west.
