ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Asif Ali Zardari used his Independence Day message to call for economic and governance reforms.
He issued the appeal on August 14 and urged greater education and employment opportunities for young Pakistanis. Zardari said Pakistan must strengthen its economy, improve skills and expand opportunities for young people.
He also sought governance, economic and social reforms that would spread development and democracy across every community.
The president described young people as Pakistan’s greatest strength. He highlighted their work in science, technology, business, education and creative industries.
Zardari said citizens should measure national progress through practical improvements in daily life. He cited careers, healthcare, education and greater confidence for farmers, workers and businesses.
The president also backed dialogue and diplomacy to settle disputes. He said Pakistan would support efforts to reduce tensions and protect regional stability.

Zardari honoured Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan Movement workers and families who sacrificed for independence. He also paid tribute to national martyrs and law enforcement personnel.
