The Imran Khan ophthalmic treatment plan in Rawalpindi has entered the preparation stage, with Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital allocating dedicated space for the former prime minister. Authorities plan to shift the jailed founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from Adiala Jail for specialised eye care.

Hospital management and The News Pakistan have confirmed that officials assigned 10 rooms inside the Administration Block. The hospital recently constructed these rooms for juvenile patients. Management has now allocated them for this high-profile case.

Officials say they designed the setup to support both medical efficiency and strict security control.

The Imran Khan ophthalmic treatment in Rawalpindi will be conducted by the Department of Vitreo-retina. Doctors plan to move the patient directly from his room to the operating theatre through a controlled internal passage. This arrangement allows medical staff to act quickly while limiting outside access.

The department treats complex retinal conditions. These include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular diseases, retinal vascular disorders, complex retinal detachment, and posterior segment trauma.

Dr Aasim Yusuf, Imran Khan’s long-time personal physician and CMO of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, has stated that Imran Khan is suffering from central retinal vein occlusion, CRVO, a serious chronic eye condition caused by blockage of the main retinal vein.

Prof Dr Nadeem Qureshi, head of the Retina Department, leads the medical board. He supervises a team of 10 specialist doctors who will examine and manage the case. Hospital representatives describe the team as highly experienced in handling advanced retinal complications.

Hospital administrators have strengthened security protocols ahead of the transfer. Brigadier Khalid Yazdani, chief of the Administrative Unit, now oversees operational arrangements. Sources indicate that authorities will seal the road leading to the Administration Block during the treatment period. Security personnel will restrict entry to authorised staff only.

These steps reflect the sensitivity of the situation and the need to maintain order within hospital premises. The hospital sits roughly a 15-minute drive from Adiala Jail. Officials currently await formal government instructions before confirming the transfer schedule.

What Officials Have Confirmed

Authorities have confirmed several key points. The hospital has allocated 10 rooms. A specialised retina board will supervise treatment. Security teams have prepared controlled access routes.

However, officials have not disclosed the specific medical diagnosis or the expected duration of treatment.

For now, confirmed information remains limited to logistical and administrative preparations. PhotonNews will continue to report verified developments as authorities release further updates.
