ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accused the federal government of withholding health information from former prime minister Imran Khan’s family and party leadership after bringing a specialist doctor from London to examine him.
In a statement, the party demanded his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital for treatment. PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram questioned why Khan’s personal physicians still lacked access to him.
Akram urged the government to exercise political judgement and prevent the situation from deteriorating further. His objections centred on the arrangements for Khan’s examination and the information available to those seeking access to him.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah had earlier confirmed that authorities brought a doctor from London for Khan. Speaking on Samaa TV’s “Red Line with Talat Hussain”, he maintained that the arrangements complied with the law.
Sanaullah denied that authorities were refusing Khan medical treatment.

He maintained that the government had informed PTI about the medical facilities available to its founder. That account differs from the party’s complaint that officials had kept its leadership and Khan’s family uninformed about his health.
Regarding earlier treatment arrangements, Sanaullah said authorities had followed the Supreme Court’s directions and taken Khan to a hospital for examination by a medical board.
He added that officials had complied with court directives concerning telephone contact and a meeting with Khan’s children. Authorities had submitted a report to the court detailing the process, he maintained.
Asked why Khan had not been transferred to Shifa International Hospital, Sanaullah said the government had presented its reasons before the court. He maintained that doctors who had previously examined Khan at Shifa conducted the assessment and found him healthy.
