Imran Khan, Chairman of PTI, has made his presence known at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for hearings related to multiple cases that include violent protests following his arrest on May 9, the Toshakhana reference and others.
PTI’s official Twitter account shared a video of the former Prime Minister’s black SUV entering the IHC premises, with security personnel armed with bulletproof shields providing a protective escort.
Imran will appear in a district court at the Federal Judicial Complex amid a hectic schedule today. This appearance is in response to a petition for pre-arrest bail in an FIR associated with alleged fraud in the sale of Toshakhana gifts, which was registered on June 6.
Moreover, he’s expected to be present in an anti-terrorism court regarding 10 cases tied to violation of Section 144 and alleged threats towards a female judge.
The FJC registrar approved Imran’s request to bring his vehicle into the court premises earlier to ensure safety and minimize potential risk during the attendance.
Before Imran’s arrival, the IHC extended its previous order, temporarily halting the criminal proceedings against the PTI Chairman in the Toshakhana reference.
Toshakhana is a department accountable for storing gifts and precious items given to Pakistani public officials by foreign counterparts, supervised by the Cabinet Division. The reference alleges that Imran had intentionally hidden the details of the gifts he retained from Toshakhana and the subsequent sales made during his tenure as the Prime Minister.
Legal complications surrounding his retention of these gifts led to his previous disqualification by the electoral body and his indictment last month.
