Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan today expressed disappointment and surprise at the US statement on Pakistan’s political crisis and his party’s attempts at the ouster of the govt. though street power.
In a press statement, Khan said apart from the US’s unacceptable intrusion into Pakistan’s internal political matters; he wanted to ask if the American people would accept an election where 60k to 70k votes were unverifiable because ballot papers were deliberately printed against the rules at the last minute, and on paper which could not use indelible ink?
Khan also pointed out that for 14 months PTI exhausted all legal means to seek redress against the rigging but all efforts were stonewalled – from the Election Tribunals to the Parliament to the courts including the Supreme Court.
Khan reminded that he had warned his party would come on the streets if justice against rigging was not found through institutional means. Now PTI has fulfilled that commitment to the people.
“Our protest is democratic and constitutional and it is unacceptable for an external power to intrude into the internal political dynamics of Pakistan especially when it is going through a crisis,” he said.
