In Karachi’s Defence Phase 5, a significant breach of law was highlighted following a brutal assault involving the son of a political figure and his private guards.
Haris Jakhrani, son of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, is reportedly the individual behind the attack.
A senior crime reporter, Nazir Shah, reported that despite CCTV evidence and an FIR, no substantial action has been taken against the accused.
The incident unfolded when Abu Bakr Siddiqui was attacked while walking from a gym. Video footage from the scene shows a security guard, alighting from a black, unregistered vehicle, suddenly assaulting Siddiqui. More attackers from a blue car joined the assault, employing fists, kicks, and weapons.
Siddiqui identified Haris Jakhrani as one of his assailants. The filed FIR includes charges of attempted murder and assault, among others. Additionally, Siddiqui reported that during the assault, his Rolex watch, AirPods, and wallet were stolen.
Authorities are investigating and have assured that those responsible will face legal repercussions. This incident has sparked concerns about the impunity often enjoyed by individuals with political connections and the need for accountability regardless of one’s status.
