The residence of Latif Khosa, former governor of Punjab, in Lahore, was the target of a late-night firearm assault on Thursday, as the senior politician confirmed.
The attack was orchestrated by unknown assailants, which resulted in Khosa’s driver being injured. The attackers successfully fled the scene, leaving the prominent legal scholar unscathed.
Khosa, who was reviewing a client’s case at his home during the incident, was informed by his injured driver of the attack.
The senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member reported noticing bullet holes in the front door when he went to investigate. “My house was fired upon using a Kalashnikov. Such strategies will not intimidate us. We stand with the chief justice,” he stated.
In response to the attack, Owais Shafiq, a police superintendent, arrived at the former governor’s home, and an investigation was initiated.
The police stated that the attackers fired seven shots at Khosa’s residence, with one bullet injuring the driver and others penetrating the house door. Police are utilizing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the culprits.
Additionally, the police discovered four bullet casings outside Khosa’s home and identified two bullet marks on the main gate. The CCTV system installed outside the house has yet to provide any leads on the suspects.
The police announced that a formal complaint would be filed at the behest of Sardar Latif Khosa.
Veteran politician Aitzaz Ahsan condemned the assault on Khosa’s home, accusing Gullu Butts of orchestrating the shooting.
