Technology billionaire Elon Musk said the Grok Odyssey film would become a feature-length, AI-generated adaptation of Homer’s epic poem before the end of 2026.
Musk made the claim in a July 22 post on X while sharing a three-minute video that another user said was generated with Grok Imagine. He described the planned version as “historically accurate and true to the art of Homer.”
The shared clip depicted Odysseus and the nymph Calypso. It was user-generated content rather than an official trailer or production announcement from Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI.
xAI describes Grok Imagine as a video-and-audio generation model capable of creating footage from text or images and editing existing scenes. Its documentation also supports extending generated videos, but it does not confirm a feature-length “Odyssey” project, cast, budget or distribution agreement.
Musk’s statement followed his criticism of filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s theatrical adaptation of “The Odyssey,” including the casting of actor Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy.

Nolan’s Universal Pictures production opened in cinemas in July with Matt Damon as Odysseus. The film earned an estimated $264.1 million worldwide during its opening weekend, according to the Associated Press
