The highly anticipated trailer for “Gladiator 2,” Ridley Scott’s sequel to his 2000 blockbuster, is now available.
Starring Paul Mescal as an adult Lucius, previously depicted by Spencer Treat Clark, the film picks up two decades after Russell Crowe’s famed portrayal. In Numidia, northern Africa, the narrative sees Lucius initially fleeing Roman influence, only to be drawn back to Rome and the brutal world of gladiatorial combat.
Paramount Pictures unveiled the film’s first poster earlier this past Monday, heightening anticipation.
Paul Mescal expressed his excitement about the project: “I’m thrilled to unveil the first official trailer of ‘Gladiator II.’ Under the visionary direction of Ridley Scott, this sequel promises to showcase some of the most spectacular action sequences ever filmed. We look forward to your joining us in cinemas this November.”
Twenty-four years after the original, “Gladiator 2” revisits the epic saga with a cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Connie Nielsen, and Denzel Washington. The original film, released on September 1, 2000, earned five Oscars from 11 nominations, alongside numerous BAFTA awards and two Golden Globes.
The film is scheduled for release in UK cinemas on November 15, 2024, and in the US a week later, on November 22. It will debut in India on November 15 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
