Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 117-95 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a masterclass performance with 29 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.

Chet Holmgren contributed significantly with 19 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Despite earlier struggles, Jalen Williams scored 10 crucial points in the fourth quarter, securing the Thunder’s playoff win.

Facing Luka Doncic, Gilgeous-Alexander showcased superior scoring, playmaking, and defensive skills. Doncic scored 19 points but struggled against Oklahoma City’s defence, which included Lu Dort and rookie Cason Wallace.

Kyrie Irving scored 20 points for Dallas, and Daniel Gafford added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. However, their efforts were not enough to overcome Oklahoma City’s performance.

The Thunder aim to maintain their momentum in Game 2 in Oklahoma City. Gilgeous-Alexander’s 11-point burst in the second quarter helped establish a 62-53 halftime lead.

Despite a Dallas rally, the Thunder held strong. Isaiah Joe, Lu Dort, and Williams made timely contributions, maintaining an 89-79 lead into the final quarter. The Thunder extended their advantage, emphasizing their postseason intentions with a solid 117-95 win.
