Senior journalist Hamid Mir has analyzed the situation surrounding General Qamar Javed Bajwa, indicating that he may not avoid repercussions.
During a broadcast of Geo’s “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Ke Sath,” Mir highlighted that, like General Faiz Hameed, General Bajwa could face the consequences. He emphasized that contrary to some perceptions, Imran Khan did not manipulate Generals Faiz and Bajwa; instead, the generals exploited Khan’s position for their purposes.
Host Shahzeb Khanzada remarked that the range of arrests could expand. This follows the military detention of former DG ISI General Faiz Hamid and subsequent arrests of retired military officers and police personnel linked to him. The government hints at further arrests, with former Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram, reported missing since August 14, under investigation.
Shahzeb Khanzada also noted that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, commenting on General Faiz Hamid’s custody and court-martial, referred to it as a “miracle,” stating that he was among General Faiz’s victims. Dar recounted that General Faiz had apologized to him in October.
Furthermore, PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s barrister, Gohar, clarified that PTI has no ties to General Faiz Hamid’s arrest, emphasizing it as an internal military matter that should remain apolitical. He affirmed that General Faiz never directed or communicated with PTI members.
The Pakistani military has disclosed that in addition to General Faiz Hamid, three other retired military officers are currently detained, facing charges related to violations of military discipline.
