Gilgit-Baltistan goes to the polls today for 24 GB Assembly seats, with voting scheduled from 8 am to 5 pm, the Election Commission said.
Authorities completed security and electoral preparations on Saturday. The Election Commission said 1,391 polling stations had been established across Gilgit-Baltistan for the general elections.
According to the final classification list, 488 polling stations have been declared normal, 349 sensitive and 551 highly sensitive.
Gilgit has 253 polling stations, including 51 normal, 48 sensitive and 154 highly sensitive. Ghizer has 207 polling stations, with 83 normal, 52 sensitive and 69 highly sensitive.
Skardu has 208 polling stations, including 88 normal, 51 sensitive and 69 highly sensitive. Diamer has 174 polling stations, of which 119 are marked as highly sensitive, the highest number among all districts.

Nagar has 85 polling stations, Hunza 88, Shigar 71, Kharmang 43, Ghanche 154 and Astore 108, according to the Election Commission list.
Authorities said enhanced security measures had been finalised for sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations to prevent any untoward incident during voting.
Gilgit-Baltistan Inspector General of Police Nasir Akbar Khan said more than 17,500 personnel had been deployed for election security. He said police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies would remain on alert throughout the polling process.
Additional personnel have been posted at vulnerable locations, while district administrations will monitor security arrangements during the vote.
