Karachi, Sindh, faces a Karachi rain alert from June 16 to June 20, with thunderstorms, high-velocity winds and dust storms expected, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said Monday.
The PMD said the weather system may also bring widespread rain to Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy downpours may hit Upper Punjab, the Potohar region, Islamabad, Murree and Galyat.
Northern and eastern districts of Balochistan may see dust storms and rain, according to the advisory. Other parts of Sindh may receive dusty winds and light showers.
The PMD warned that heavy rain could trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas. Torrential downpours may also damage weak structures, especially in exposed or vulnerable locations.
Authorities have been alerted to landslide risks in mountainous areas. The advisory urged the National Disaster Management Authority and provincial departments to remain on high alert and take preventive steps.
