The latest Qamar Javed Bajwa health update confirms that the former Chief of Army Staff fainted due to a heart block rather than slipping, according to a family source. He is currently receiving medical treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

The source clarified that a problem in the heart’s electrical system caused a Third-Degree Atrioventricular (AV) Block. This led to a sudden loss of consciousness, which resulted in a fall and a head injury.

According to the family’s account, Gen (retd) Bajwa felt unwell on the evening of Monday, February 9. Despite this, he went for his usual evening walk and exercise. Later that night, he experienced nausea and went to the washroom. After vomiting, he fainted and fell.

Family members rushed him to CMH within 15 minutes. Blood was reportedly seen coming from his ears following the fall.

Qamar Javed Bajwa Health Update: Diagnosis and Treatment

Doctors conducted further medical tests after his admission. They identified three hairline fractures in his skull. However, medical teams confirmed there were no blood clots in the brain.

The Qamar Javed Bajwa health update further states that doctors diagnosed him with a Third-Degree AV Block. This condition affects the heart’s electrical signals and can cause fainting spells.

At this stage, surgery is not required. Doctors have placed him under sedation to support healing and recovery. They are currently managing his condition with a temporary pacemaker.

Medical teams plan to install a permanent pacemaker to treat the heart condition in the coming phase of treatment. According to the family source, he is fully conscious and recognises all family members.

ISPR Statement and Rumour Clarification

Earlier, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the former army chief had been admitted to CMH after sustaining injuries from a fall at his residence. The official statement did not initially detail the underlying medical cause.

The family source emphasised that misinformation had circulated in parts of the media and on social media. They urged the public to avoid spreading rumours and to respect the former army chief’s medical privacy during this period.

Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa served as Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff from 2016 to 2022. He retired on November 29, 2022, after completing his tenure.

At present, doctors continue to monitor his condition closely. Medical teams remain focused on stabilising his heart rhythm and supporting his recovery.
