LAHORE: Foreign nationals repatriated from Punjab reached 35,719 under the ongoing drive against illegally residing foreigners, Punjab Police said on Wednesday.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said 72 individuals were still present at various holding points as the repatriation process continued across the province.
The spokesperson said those repatriated included 14,052 men, 7,138 women and 14,529 children. The total included Afghan nationals and other foreign nationals, according to police.
Punjab Police said 11,047 repatriated individuals held Proof of Residence documents, while 11,135 had Afghan Citizen Cards. Another 13,537 were foreign nationals residing in Pakistan illegally.

Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Abdul Kareem, said security remained on high alert across the province.
He said the Punjab Police was implementing the government’s repatriation policy in line with international laws.
Abdul Kareem said law enforcement agencies remained committed to carrying out the process in an orderly manner across Punjab.
