Pakistan has introduced e-passports, which feature an electronic chip that stores biometric data and enhances travel security for its citizens. This chip validates the passport holder’s identity by including their biometrics.

Fee Structure
As of October 2024, a 36-page e-passport in Pakistan costs Rs9,000 for normal processing and Rs15,000 for urgent processing, with a five-year validity. A 10-year validity for the same passport costs Rs13,500 normally and Rs22,500 urgently.

For a 72-page passport, the five-year validity costs Rs16,500 under normal circumstances and Rs27,000 for urgent processing. The 10-year option costs Rs24,750 for normal and Rs40,500 for urgent processing.

Benefits of Pakistan e-Passport
With this upgrade, Pakistani passport holders join over 150 countries that issue e-passports, gaining access to e-gate facilities worldwide. This facilitates faster border processing and simplifies online applications.

The introduction of e-passports significantly enhances travel convenience, especially for overseas Pakistanis, and bolsters Pakistan’s standing in global travel.
