The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has strictly prohibited all its officers and officials from engaging with the media, encompassing print and electronic forms.
The directive, as outlined in the instructions distributed to FBR Members and Director Generals, comes after noticing a trend among officers to engage with media personnel without obtaining prior approval from the Competent Authority.
Such interactions have been identified as breaches of conduct regulations. The notification explicitly mandates that moving forward, no individual, apart from the designated spokesperson of the FBR, is permitted to communicate with media representatives concerning any matter.
This prohibition takes effect immediately, as indicated in the FBR’s announcement. Additionally, it extends to personal social media usage. Officers and officials are forbidden from discussing FBR’s performance and policy decisions on platforms, including X (previously known as Twitter), unless they are the official spokesperson.
