Cristiano Ronaldo’s fan base again demonstrated its immense dedication. One enthusiast, Gong, cycled an impressive 13,000 kilometres over seven months from China to Saudi Arabia to meet the Al-Nassr star.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, the 24-year-old embarked from Anhui province on March 18 and arrived at the Al Nassr Football Club on October 20.

According to WION, Gong’s route took him from Beijing westward through Xinjiang, then across Kazakhstan and six other countries, including Georgia, Iran, and Qatar, finally reaching Riyadh. This idea sparked after Ronaldo cancelled a scheduled visit to China in February due to an injury.

Throughout his journey, Gong was equipped with essentials such as two power banks, a tent, cooking utensils, and clothing. Despite facing significant challenges like language barriers, high food prices, and physical exhaustion, Gong persevered. He managed communication difficulties using translation software and coped with high food prices by adjusting his diet to primarily bread.

In August, while in Armenia, Gong endured a severe fever and collapsed, but he received complimentary medical treatment at a local hospital. Arriving in Riyadh on October 10, Gong initially couldn’t meet Ronaldo as the player was in Europe. After waiting a few days, Al Nassr staff arranged a brief meeting.

Gong’s persistence paid off when he met Ronaldo and attended an Al Nassr vs Al Shabab match, thanks to a fan who provided tickets. Ronaldo warmly greeted Gong with a handshake and a hug during their meeting, signed an Al Nassr No. 7 jersey, and autographed a banner featuring Gong’s friends’ names and a personal quote.
