Following the detention of military officers, there has been widespread speculation regarding former Army Chief General (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. However, informed sources cited in a report by Ansar Abbasi have clarified that no action is currently being considered against General Bajwa. These sources have dismissed social media rumours suggesting punitive measures against the former Chief of Army Staff.
Specifically addressing a post titled “Intelligence Report” circulating through WhatsApp groups, these sources categorically state that the suggestions of actions akin to those taken against General (Retd) Faiz are entirely baseless.
Rumours previously circulated that additional security measures were implemented around General Bajwa’s residence following General Faiz’s arrest, and there was speculation about a potential field general court-martial. It was also rumoured that General Bajwa had tacitly accepted the increased security without public comment. However, reliable sources have deemed these claims inaccurate.
Moreover, another source revealed that General Bajwa is currently in Dubai and is expected to return to Pakistan in the coming days. The controversial social media post was reportedly shared by a retired military officer residing abroad who is known for conducting anti-military campaigns.
This officer was previously sentenced to 14 years under the Field General Court Martial for inciting rebellion, violating the Pakistan Army Act of 1952, and breaching the Official Secrets Act of 1923 due to his actions against the state’s security and interests.
In related news, former DG ISI Lieutenant General (Retd) Faiz Hamid was recently detained. He faces corruption charges related to a housing society in Islamabad and a Field General Court Martial for several violations of the Pakistan Army Act, as reported by the ISPR following his retirement.
