The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared that commercial bank branches, typically operational on Saturdays, will maintain their standard banking hours until 5:30 pm on June 24. This measure supports tax collection via Alternate Delivery Channels (ADCs) and over-the-counter (OTC) services.
On Monday, the central bank issued a statement instructing all commercial banks to ensure their online payment facilities, including internet banking and mobile apps, are available round-the-clock. This is done to aid taxpayers in the online payment of government duties and taxes.
This decision was made to help taxpayers settle government duties and taxes following a Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) request. Notably, the Eid ul Adha holidays are scheduled for the final days of the current fiscal year.
As is customary, all banks and financial institutions are expected to observe the official Eid ul Adha holidays. As a result, taxpayers would need to settle their taxes and duties ahead of these holidays.
If the Zil Hajj moon is sighted today, Eid ul Adha will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday).

As per standard procedure, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee convenes on the 29th of every Islamic month to confirm the moon’s sighting.
