Tando Mohammad Khan: Sindh Police arrested dismissed former civil judge Zahid Mugheri and his accomplice Sajjad Lashari during a snap checkpoint operation.
They seized 10 bags of mainpuri raw material and one illegal firearm.
Both suspects are residents of Gulistan-e-Johar, Karachi. Mugheri initially claimed he was a serving judge.
Police verified his identity and confirmed he had been dismissed by the Sindh High Court on April 22, 2026, for misconduct and inefficiency. Authorities registered a case against both men and launched a criminal investigation.
Mainpuri is a chewable tobacco product linked to oral cancer, oesophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other serious health problems.

Experts say it is highly addictive and more dangerous than plain chewing tobacco.
Police said the operation aimed to stop smuggling and illegal distribution of harmful substances in the area.
