LONDON: Actor Emma D’Arcy attended the London premiere of Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Digger” in a floor-length Valentino duster coat paired with trousers and a draped red blouse.
The “House of the Dragon” star wore a pearlescent coat that extended to the floor and trailed behind them on the red carpet. D’Arcy described the look to Vogue as “quite ’90s Hugh Grant.”
Stylist Rose Forde completed the outfit with a Tiffany & Co. brooch designed by jeweler artist Jean Schlumberger.
Duster coats originally served a far more practical purpose. In the 19th century, travellers wore versions made from linen or canvas to protect their clothes from mud, rain and dust.

D’Arcy’s Valentino version instead resembled formal opera coats associated with early 20th-century eveningwear. The red Valentino blouse appeared through the coat’s cuffs and wrapped around the actor’s neck.
The appearance continued D’Arcy’s preference for tailored red carpet clothing over traditional gowns, while retaining the scale and movement of formal eveningwear.
