Model Emily Ratajkowski drew attention on Instagram after promoting her New York Magazine essay about single motherhood, dating and life after divorce.
Ratajkowski shared images from the feature and directed followers to her essay “Motherfucker.” In the post, she said becoming a single mother changed how she viewed power, men, sex and herself.
The model shares her son, Sylvester Apollo Bear, known as Sly, with her former husband, producer Sebastian Bear-McClard. Sly was born on March 8, 2021.
In the New York Magazine piece, Ratajkowski wrote that she spent several years dating after becoming a single mother, while trying to understand who she wanted to be.
She said she kept firm rules while dating, including not missing bedtime and avoiding sleepovers. Ratajkowski wrote that she preferred to be home when her son woke up.
Ratajkowski described leaving dates early so she could relieve the nanny and be ready for her son in the morning.
She also wrote that one man told her he thought she was a good mother after seeing her keep those boundaries.
