The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) intends to seek insights from major political entities, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), about scheduling the forthcoming general elections slated for early next year. Parties will be consulted individually concerning the election timeline, delimitation matters, and voter registries. Dialogues with significant parties such as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and others are set to commence shortly.
ECP’s Endorsement of RCS
Following a detailed overview of the new Result Compilation System (RCS), the ECP, under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, has voiced its contentment. The RCS, equipped with a mobile application, facilitates the swift transmission of results. Furthermore, it aids returning officers in collating quick, precise vote data. The system underwent multiple tests, and the commission has expressed complete confidence in its efficacy.
Initiatives Regarding Election Results
Recently, the ECP has innovated several systems for election results management, such as result transmission and management systems. The commission is also diligently reviewing the demarcation of constituencies for the National Assembly and provincial assemblies, post the digital census 2023. Pertinent agencies and departments have been notified to furnish essential maps and data for this purpose promptly. Following this, five committees tasked with delimitation are expected to gather the necessary information by the end of August.
