The death of an eight-year-old girl is shrouded in mystery as the case is as yet unsolved.
K* died on Saturday after reportedly falling from the rooftop of a ground-plus-one-storey residential house in Gul Goth, Sohrab Goth, within the limits of SITE Super Highway police station. The girl’s family, which hails from Badin, had been staying at their relative’s house at Gul Goth for the last month.
The children were playing on the roof when a wall fell on them due to which K* fell while the rest were wounded, explained the victim’s maternal uncle, Nisar.
The body was taken to Civil hospital, where someone voiced that the girl was raped.
“The doctors in the medical report declared head injury as a cause of death,” said police officer Asmatullah Marwat. “However, the lady doctor neither confirmed nor denied the rape attempt,” he added. It would take another week to confirm the reports.
The bereaved family informed the media that the girl fell down from the roof, but it has yet to be confirmed whether she was raped.
After the news aired on the electronic media, home minister Sohail Siyal took notice of the incident and ordered police to submit a report within five days.
On the other hand, the police said that a case has yet to be registered. An FIR will be lodged if it is proved in the medical report that girl was murdered after being subjected to rape, added Marwat.
