Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday restored the National Assembly membership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan after his disqualification was earlier suspended by the Supreme Court.
In a notification issued here today, the ECP said it was recalling its earlier de-notification of the PTI lawmaker following the Supreme Court order last week.
An election tribunal had earlier disqualified Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan on charges of not declaring assets and concealing facts from the election commission.
The independent candidate and runner-up in NA-162 Haji Mohammad Khan had accused Rai Hasan Nawaz of being a defaulter and concealing facts on his nomination papers.
Rai Hasan Nawaz Khan had received 88,974 votes from the Sahiwal-III NA-162 constituency and returned successful in the 2013 general elections.
