The Federal cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has allocated Rs 1.8 billion as a technical supplementary grant for the engine overhaul of two VVIP aircraft that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif used for state duties.

The ECC meeting, chaired by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, reviewed and approved several proposals across different sectors.

A press statement detailed, “The ECC has sanctioned a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 1.8 billion to the Ministry of Defence for the engine overhaul of two VVIP aircraft used in state operations by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

In addition, the ECC addressed a proposal from the Ministry of National Food Security & Research concerning allocating PASSCO’s domestic and imported wheat stocks to wheat-deficient agencies/regions for the Food Year 2024-25. After a thorough discussion, it was decided that PASSCO would distribute wheat based on the allocation ratio set by the ECC as of February 1, 2024.

The statement further specified, “Until the complete distribution of imported wheat stock, all seven wheat-deficient agencies/regions will receive wheat according to their committed demand throughout the Food Year 2024-25.” The ECC also mandated quality and fitness testing of the wheat before distribution.

Moreover, the ECC approved a proposal from the Ministry of Interior for a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 252.711 million, previously surrendered by the Ministry of Housing and Works. This grant will fund the Capital Development Authority to ensure continuous civic services at the Prime Minister’s Office (Public), Prime Minister’s Office Internal, and Prime Minister’s Staff Colony.

Another approval from the ECC involved a grant of Rs. 2.939 billion to the Director General of Immigration & Passports for acquiring two e-passport Personalization systems and six desktop personalization machines, facilitating the smooth operation of official business in the public interest.
