London, United Kingdom: Buckingham Palace marked the Duchess of Gloucester’s birthday on Saturday by releasing new portraits of Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester, as she turned 80.
The British Royal Family posted the birthday message on Instagram on June 20. The post thanked well-wishers and showed the Duchess with Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, in Buckingham Palace gardens.
The palace credited royal photographer Chris Jackson for the garden portrait. Another portrait showed the Danish-born royal in the Yellow Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace.
The Duchess appeared in a pale green outfit in the garden image. She wore a white outfit with an emerald and pearl necklace in the indoor portrait.
Birgitte married Prince Richard in 1972 at St Andrew’s Church in Barnwell, Northamptonshire. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have three children and six grandchildren.
